The above is the properly designed image of my wireframe. I used hues of black for the background as it depicts professionalism of the website and for the brand. Using the colour black as the background not only allow the bottles to stand out and also give the audience a clearer and easier way to browse through the website.

The header's text in white shows clearly the name and logo of the website "mrbottles.com".

The example of a post of news was included to show how I would post the news and how the pictures would be taken and arrange.

I have included the quick links at the footer for the convenience of the audience.

The above is the diagram for the revamped website. There are 4 main tabs which includes:-

About: It is to allow customers to have a brief information about the website. Testimonials are customer's good feedbacks about their services.

Interest: It includes the articles of various different types of bottles. Hall of fame shows various types of bottles

(B) Wire frame

Above is the improved version of the website and it shows roughly how I would re-designed and how it looks after that. It has a much neater layout than the actual site and it is way much easier to navigate around without any difficulties. I have reduced a lot of information provided on the website which some are even repetition and irrelevant.
I have also included a "chat box" named "Bottles Talk" for collectors to discuss about their bottles which is also useful for audience to read and learn more about bottles.
I have taken out the "floating man" which overall, I feel that it is not a necessity.

(C) Visual Elements

The visual look of the website plays an important role for the audience, it is able to capture the audience attention as the website is much neater and easier to navigate, audiences are able to enjoy browsing the website.
I would like to use hues of black for the website background as black allows the bottle's colour to stand out and also depicts professionalism.

The website should include collectors relevant pictures, their collections and reliable testimonials, therefore it allows audience and customers to have confidence in the company.

The website's picture of the bottles are everywhere, therefore I would like to arranged them in an orderly manner by the height, sizes and colours to show professionalism.

In the "Bottles Gallery" the bottles should include the code of individual bottles as audience and customers who are interested in them could actually enquire about the items and purchase them.

The website should also include the close-up of the bottles to show the details of the bottles like the date the bottle was produced and the place of origin.

I would like to include Facebook and Twitter updates as I find it an interesting and interactive way to engage with the audience and customers and also update them about the latest news and instantly connect with them.

Project 1 - Week 3 Progressive Submission: Web Analysis
Wednesday, August 17, 2011 @ 5:28 PM

The website that I have chosen to critique and analyze on would be a bottles collector website.
Website Url: http://www.mrbottles.com/ (caution, do not turn your volume too loud)

Company name: Mr Bottle

Purpose of the website
The purpose of the website is t
o showcase the antique bottles and an auction section for collectors to sell their bottles. They also have a small section of advices to clean and maintain the bottles.

Target Audience
The targeted audience will be mainly bottle collectors and people who have interest in collecting of antique bottles.

Analysis & Critiques of website

The blog has a creative logo that suits the website name. The url of the blog is easy to remember and the website contains a lot of information for the audience. The sidebar contains vital information which is effective for the audience to browse and also in a very creative manner as such the bottles are designed to match the category. There is sufficient images on the background and on every post.

However, the website has too much information. Firstly, starting from the top "Services" "Of Interest" "Contact" "Home" when I want to hover and see what are the list of information, there is the description appearing in white box and it covers the list of information which defeats the purpose of listing the list of information.

For the starting of the post, they did not paragraph the entire post and so the whole paragraph looks very chunky and time-consuming to read. On top of that, the words are used in bright and blending colours which blends with the background. I could not start reading the information as the pictures which change in a second distracts me. Besides that, when I scroll down there is this boat which keeps "sinking" or "following" me. It gets very distracting and irritating, which was meant to be creative.

The "floating man in suit" on top of the page gives advices and spread messages out which I feel that it is very educational, however he keeps popping up and his advices keeps replaying which made him an irritant factor and I had to mute my speaker as I could not find the button to pause him.

All of the pictures posted have no clear information of the bottles. If people who wants to learn or get information will have no clue about this bottle and some of the pictures are in the middle of the information which makes it look even more disorganized.

Ways and Suggestions of improving the website
The website could have been more vibrant using the collector's bottles. The background colours used could have be of lighter hues, standard fonts should have been used with improved fonts and standardizing all the colours in the posts will enhance the look to give it a more professional collectors site.
The long chunky paragraph could have shorten much more and making it more interesting.
The "floating boat" at the sidebar should removed as it is not a necessity to include. The bottles pictured could have been displayed in a more professional manner with information listed just at the bottom of the image.
The "floating man in suit" should have been placed at the top side of the page and just his face and a quote or message side by side so that the audience can catch what he was trying to say and not find him an irritant factor, therefore this also help to sent the message he was trying to spread out. A small chatbox at the side of the page can be included for collectors to discuss about their collections and also for the audience to know more about the bottles history.
All these factors that I have listed down will help to improve the site and make a professional site for bottle collectors to browse without any difficulty and also enhancing it to be an educational site too.
